Turner Classic Movies is showing "Pandora's Box" tonight. It's a beautiful silent masterpiece from 1929, starring the eternally fascinating Louise Brooks from Cherryvale, Kansas. If you haven't seen it, it's worth checking out. Brooks was not only a fetching young lass but also had a keen mind that she put to use later in life as an essayist and film critic. In Pandora, we get to see two of her largest contributions to cinema; her trademark black "bob" haircut and a naturalistic acting style that's intimate and revolutionary when seen in the context of the silent era.
