A random collection of material from comic artist Kevin Nowlan. Started with the best of intentions, but like most other efforts, doomed to perish from neglect as soon as the novelty wears off.
That's a gorgeous drawing. I honestly don't know who that is, though he kinda reminds of Alec Baldwin.
ReplyDeleteYou got the eyes, heavy-lidded supposedly because of insomnia, but for one of Hollywood's great tough guys he had a rather weak chin.
ReplyDeleteMan, that is some talent on display for sure. Love the lighting.
ReplyDeleteThere might have been an additional reason for Mitchum's eyes being heavy lidded. That almost-smile of his you've captured cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteIt's all in that one raised eyebrow.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a very young Mitchum (younger movie fans won't know who he is, alas), but there's also a hint of Sly Stallone.
ReplyDeleteIn this age of movies and comics available at the click of a mouse, the only excuse for ignorance is a lack of curiosity. Anyone interested in film and acting should know get to know Robert Mitchum.
ReplyDeleteThe wideness of the face reminds me of how Frank Quitely draws Clark Kent for All Star Superman.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful drawing, no doubt. Although not a very successful portrait...
ReplyDeleteYou're a legend, sir.
ReplyDeleteHOLY PISSCAN! That is slick.
ReplyDeleteNIGHT OF THE HUNTER!
=s=
Mitchum looked a little like Mr Incredible :)
ReplyDeletePerhaps a bit younger than Out of the Past. Maybe a booking/mug shot for his dope arrest.
ReplyDeleteActually, I would say this is the very definition of a successful portrait. Not only is it clearly and superbly Mitchum, it's Mitchum with Kevin's style still clearly evident. As always, just amazing... those eyes say it all.
ReplyDeleteexcellent
ReplyDeleteCertainly a nice drawing, but it looks nothing like Mitchum....
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about this beautiful piece is that you can see it was made by an artist who is himself and isn't trying to ape someone else. The people who said that it didn't look like the subject missed the subtleties and originality of the work. Beautiful stuff Mr Nowlan.
