Wrightson's Solomon Grundy pencils, page 22

In case some of us have forgotten, this page shows how skillfully Bernie arranges areas of black and white.  He mastered "chiaroscuro" before most of us could spell the word. It's all there in the pencils, which makes an inker's job a lot easier.

As discussed elsewhere, this story was written, pencilled and inked in 1997, but remained unpublished until 2010, in "Batman's Hidden Treasures".

Ash pin-up: Wrightson pencils with my inks

This one is from 1996 or '97. Jimmy Palmiotti phoned me out of the blue and asked me to ink a Wrightson pin-up. This was before I worked on the Batman & Solomon Grundy story, also pencilled by Berni (or Bernie). To date, neither of them have been published.

Wrightson forgot to sign the piece and I didn't want to forge his signature, so I added my name in ink and lightly pencilled his above it, for him to add later.

I think we did this 22 page story more than ten years ago, but it's still sitting on a shelf at DC, gathering dust.
