You know... I really do love Mark Chiarello... and not just because he thinks of me when a cover like this comes up. He knew this was something I'd have a lot of fun drawing. He's the best.

I think this one went on sale yesterday. Colors and seps are by the supremely talented Mr. Chris Sotomayor.

By the way, I don't have the slightest idea where that little feather in the lower left corner came from.

The second panel on this page inspired the cover drawing. We worked "Marvel style". Mike wrote a plot, I did layouts, then pencils. Working from scans of the pencils, Mike wrote the final script and did balloon placements. Finally, I lettered the pages (right on the boards... with a dip pen!) and did the inks.

For me, the challenge on this cover was coming up with an interesting image that didn't spoil any of the surprises in the story. I'll try to post some images from the interior pages later.

I can't find a date on this one but I think it's at least a couple of years old. I also couldn't find a pencil scan but I drew a tight, inked prelim so I hope that'll suffice.
