New Mutants #51, page 13
Boy, that's an awful face in the sixth panel. Maybe some of that hate mail was justified after all. Oh well, I like the rest of the page. Thanks once again to Mr. Simon Miller for the original art scan.

New Mutants #51 character sketches
I don't always do this before I start drawing a story but it seemed like a good idea on this project since I wasn't familiar with all of these characters and was trying out a pared down, less rendered approach. From 1987.

New Mutants #51 page 9
Thanks once again to Simon Miller for the scan of the original art. My favorite part of this page is Storm, sitting calmly and comfortably on the flying chunk of scrap metal.

New Mutants #51 page 15
Another page from the controversial 1987 fill-in issue. Looks like I changed the lighting when I inked the last panel.

Museum of Oddities, page three
Rough layouts, pencils, inks and colors. You gotta love a guy who packs a roast chicken in his lunch bag.

X-Men: Lost Tales #1, 1997
It was nice having a chance to do a generic "poster shot" cover for an X-Men book but this one went south after I handed in the color guide. The nice, neutral, dark gray background – designed to make the primary colors on the costumes pop – was replaced with a wimpy green monstrosity by someone in the office. It ruined the whole effect.
