Batgirl grayscale painting

The final version is 16 x 20", ink and gouache on gray board:

Black Widow redux

A while back I was asked to do an updated version of a Marvel Fanfare piece from the '80's. The commissioner asked for the classic costume and hair. I was able to fix some of the things that bothered me in the original, like the spider and the pose. I also tweaked the lighting a bit. As with most pieces, I started with a sketch...

This one was inked over a blueline copy of the pencils:

Wonder Woman pin-up

This one was published in Wonder Woman #50, January, 1991. There weren't any specific guidelines from DC; they just asked for a pin-up to include in the anniversary issue. I asked if I could draw the Golden Age WW but they said they'd rather have the current model. I sort of split the difference. And who knows where that corpulent Minotaur came from. I think I was just trying to have fun with the piece and letting my weird imagination run wild.

Some preliminary sketches, then the pencils and inks:

Old Punisher commission

I think this was drawn around 1987 or '88.

Batman on a ledge

I can't find a date on this one but I think it's at least a couple of years old. I also couldn't find a pencil scan but I drew a tight, inked prelim so I hope that'll suffice.

Hellboy Mermaid pin-up

I didn't know what to draw for this one. Mike had been talking about writing a mermaid story and asked if I'd be interested in drawing it so I decided to head off in that direction. The thumbnail sketches show that I was flailing about, looking for inspiration to strike...

Perhapanauts pin-up

I drew this a few years ago for Todd Dezago and Craig Rousseau's book. Craig did the colors.
