Old Bizarro Commission
From 2007. This piece was a real challenge because the commissioner started the series with Brian Bolland's inspired Joker Trophy Wall masterpiece. He asked me to do something similar with Bizarro but I couldn't think of a worthy variation on Brian's theme. I did dozens of sketches, only two of which are shown here, then finally came up with a peculiar idea which seemed to work.

Superman Red Son commission
This was done several years ago for Dave Johnson, who drew the amazing Superman: Red Son series for DC.

Old Daredevil commission
From 2001. The commissioner asked for the old yellow and black costume. I'm afraid this basic layout is on the verge of retirement, due to overuse.

1986 Supergirl sketch
Sorry about the rerun yesterday. I was in a hurry and didn't check to see if that page had appeared here before. Here's a piece I hope no one has seen; a pencil prelim from the mid-eighties with a very leggy Supergirl.

Sinestro: Ivan Ries pencils
Chris Caira commissioned Ivan to draw this piece, then asked me to ink a blueline version. From 2008.

Cover recreation: Iron Fist #14
Looks like this one was done in 2005. It's based on the published cover art by Dave Cockrum and Al Milgrom. It seemed like an odd request but it was fun. These things really should be signed with an "after..." or "based on..." line, crediting the original artist. This one wasn't -- an oversight on my part.

Old Shadow & Batman commission
From 2005 or 2006. The commissioner, Randy Saitta, has a whole series of these from different artists. He even made a logo with Mike Kaluta headshots.

Captain America commission 2009
This is more or less a convention sketch, but it was drawn pre-con and delivered at the Baltimore Show in October this year. Unfortunately, I didn't get a scan of my inks. Anyway, here's the prelim and the finished pencils.
Update: The commissioner came through with a scan of the inks. Thanks, David!

A very old commission sketch
This must have been drawn back in the mid-eighties. I found a scan of the finished piece online at Comicartfans and I'll include it here for comparison. The sketch has been hidden away for a couple of decades in my files which could really use some sorting out. Eric Delos Santos appears to be the current owner of the finished piece but I don't think he was the original commissioner. Are you out there Eric?
Update: Here's another prelim for the same commission. I don't know why I started over instead of just adding the shadows to this one. Weird.

Happy Halloween!
This was published in the Modern Masters book so some of you may have seen it before, but you probably haven't seen the prelim. If I remember correctly, Vampi and the zombies were drawn separately and put together in Photoshop.

Old Avengers commission

"Old" in that, this was drawn a few years ago and also because this is the original cast, with Iron Man in his clunky yellow armor.
