I really liked the original costume and no matter how hard I tried to go in a different direction it seemed pointless. Who cares about Adam Strange if he's not wearing that cool space suit?
A random collection of material from comic artist Kevin Nowlan. Started with the best of intentions, but like most other efforts, doomed to perish from neglect as soon as the novelty wears off.
Reckon those Paul Pope pages from WEDNESDAY COMICS prove there's absolutely nothing wrong with Adam Strange's original costume.
ReplyDeleteDid they ever manage to actually change his costume in the late 80s? I remember a few Adam Strange appearances back then and he had the same classic look. At least you got to draw a Secret origins cover.
ReplyDeleteKinda funny that you ended up drawing a revised version anyway! At least in wasn't more than 2 pages!
As usual this is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully I'll get half as good with rendering my drawings someday. :D
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the costume bit. If it ain't broke...
ReplyDeleteand might that have been the Richard Brunning-scripted mini? I actually quite liked that one.
The first image you posted of Adam reminds me of the early model sheets Toth used to do for the HB studios. Simple and clean lines. Oh the days.
ReplyDeleteThe other pages, it is interesting to see the way you inked the moon. I'm always fascinated by that approach. You make it look easy.
