Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles: pencils and inks
This one is a bit of a re-run. I posted the inks more than two years ago but I just found a copy of the pencils:

Happy Halloween!
We had beautiful weather here so there were lots of young ones Trick or Treating, in spite of it being a school night. I only made one little girl cry but several took a step back when the door opened and they saw me standing there in full costume. The funniest one was young Max Dutton. As he stepped back I said, "Hi, Max." He responded very faintly: "Hi, Mister Nowlan..."

Universal monsters sketch
I thought I'd posted this but I can't find it anywhere on the blog so I hope I'm mistaken. This is based on the cover of Avengers #1, the result of a miscommunication for a commission last year.

Vampirella and Frankenstein
This piece has been around quite a long time. I drew it with markers and colored pencils for a friend's sketchbook, then touched it up for the cover for my first sketchbook. I think it even appears in the Modern Masters book. Recently I found a copy of the preliminary pencil sketch so now I have an excuse for posting it here...

Pencil scan for Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles
I posted the inks last summer, but couldn't locate a copy of the pencils. These things have a way of turning up when you're no longer looking for them.

More Frankenstein
You can never have too many Frankenstein pictures on your blog. In fact, I think I've been far below my quota.

Halloween 2009
This may be the start of a new tradition at our house: I dressed up to hand out treats this year. I was a little worried that some of the youngest kids might be freaked out but they were okay. We had a lot of fun and a lot of tricker-treaters. See you all in November!

Frankenstein portrait

Most of you probably saw this last week if you followed the auction link but I also wanted to show the earlier version so you can see how the piece evolved.

Frankenstein
Update: I found some pencil sketches. No scan of the finished pencils but the larger sketch is pretty tight so it's the next best thing.

Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles
...and Secret Squirrel and Atom Ant! The amazing Bill Wray pencilled this piece and asked me to ink it several years ago. I think it was for the Cartoon Network website or something.
