This is a follow-up to an older post that you can see here. I did a very detailed color guide and Lovern Kindzierski created the seps. Guides like this were rarely returned to the artists. They were either discarded, filed away or snatched up by people in the office who liked them. Fortunately, I went to the trouble of making a color copy of this one. As you can see, I went a little crazy with the notations.

Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'b be curious to see the final colored piece by Lovern (who's always doing a GREAT job coloring P.Craig Russell!)
I remember seing it back then, but it would be nice to see the both versions face to face.
Anyway, I wish they had printed your hand coloring work.
Paul
making a color copy was good thinking...this is fine work!
ReplyDeleteIf this was the color guide, I'd love to have seen your performing the finished coloring . . . OUTSTANDING!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this one larger, say in a portfolio of your DC covers and pin-ups, something akin to the ones by Adam Hughes and Brian Bolland.
ReplyDeleteMy work looks pretty rough when you enlarge it, unlike those guys.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I want to see the printed version. Only to be sure that the colorist did his job as you gently suggested. Greetings.
