Details magazine ad supplement, page 3, 1997
Blatant hucksterism masquerading as a comics section. The first panel was obviously designed to sell Zippo lighters.

ReplyDeleteGreat. Oh, you have some handy work on my blog! Have a peek. (Scroll down a little).
ReplyDeleteBig thanks again.x
First off, the use of "hucksterism" just made me laugh so hard. I had to Google it just for the definition so I could make sure I was reading that right. Hularious.
ReplyDeleteSecond, I love the little hand coming out of the computer. What kind of direction were you given for this? Something very specific that you had to pitch or just show the product in an inventive way?
Great camera work on the Zippo . . . now that's product placement!
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in seeing the complete story just to see the other nuggets you tossed in.
The linework on that facial expression on the first panel reminds me a bit of Neal Adams' work on Jerry Lewis comics in days of yore (and yes, I'm old enough to remember...) Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the story was inspired by those old Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis comics.
