We had beautiful weather here so there were lots of young ones Trick or Treating, in spite of it being a school night. I only made one little girl cry but several took a step back when the door opened and they saw me standing there in full costume. The funniest one was young Max Dutton. As he stepped back I said, "Hi, Max." He responded very faintly: "Hi, Mister Nowlan..."

A monster sketch
I don't know much about this one. It's from several years ago and it was for Ande Parks. I remember spending a lot of time in Fifth Grade drawing nothing but monsters. Heavy sigh.

Old Daredevil commission
From 2001. The commissioner asked for the old yellow and black costume. I'm afraid this basic layout is on the verge of retirement, due to overuse.

OHMU: Deacon Frost original art
I posted this piece in July but now, thanks to the very generous Ashley Salter, I can show you a nice, large scan of the original art instead of just faded Xerox copies. The July post can be seen here. These Marvel Universe pieces were all beautifully inked by Mr. Joe Rubinstein.

Punisher #6, page two
Once again, the original art scan is courtesy of Ashley Salter. Pencils by Dave Ross. I inked this very heavy and used a lot of zip-a-tone because I was nervous about the coloring we might get. Turned out there was no reason to worry, John Wellington did a beautiful job on the color guides. I was very happy when I saw this one in print.

Merv Pumpkinhead inks
Pencils by the redoubtable Mark Buckingham for last year's House of Mystery Halloween special. I haven't grown any pumpkins in the back yard for a few years but I used to love watching them grow this time of year. My wife and mother-in-law make some amazing pies. Maybe that's why I rarely turn down a Merv assignment.

JBQ and friends commission
The commissioner asked for this unusual group of characters and I enjoy drawing all of them so who am I to argue? From 2006.

Batman: Hidden Treasures on sale today!
Waited a loooong time for this one. And I love the coloring by Alex Sinclair. He really understood the light sources. Can't wait to see it in the flesh. You can see a 7-page preview here.

Batman on a ledge
I can't find a date on this one but I think it's at least a couple of years old. I also couldn't find a pencil scan but I drew a tight, inked prelim so I hope that'll suffice.
