Jack B. Quick "A Brief Geography of Time", page 3
After I lettered this page and pencilled the first panel I made a small copy of the board and started working out the rest of the layouts. I don't know what happened with Mary Lincoln's "sob"... looks like someone in production removed it, leaving an odd, empty balloon.

Damnit, why the heck did they such a thing? I loved this issue and every time you post some Jack B. Quick art I miss the series even more. By the way, I wanted to ask you, what kind of tools do you use for the lettering? Some kind of markers or specifc calligraphy tools or what? I'm a comic artist too and been thinking about learn some lettering for my stuff. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI use a Speedball "B-4" point that I filed down to an angled, chisel shape. It gives me thick horizontal lines and thin vertical lines. A "B-5" might work better but I couldn't find one at the time so I had to do more filing to make the point smaller.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Kevin!
