Superman 623 cover sketch
As you can see, the ocean liner was changed into Santa's sleigh. The background colors were also changed a bit. The final version was also made into a T-shirt.

Love the sepia background colours, they contrast so nicely with the primary colours on Supes. Plus the deep foreshortening is just pure superhero art at it's best. Didn't Neal Adams complain once that he'd only ever be remembered for doing big, foreshortened hands?
