Terra Firma Irma "cover"
Years ago I was asked to contribute a piece of art to a charity auction. I didn't have the slightest idea what to do so I sketched around until I came up with this...

Interesting to see how the rendering on the big demon changed from layouts to the final version. More solid blacks lend themselve to a Mignola/Hellboy style. Me like.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the lettering for the IRMA title. Your lettering skills really need to be acknowledged more.
Thanks, Patrick. I'm going to post some old Marvel logo roughs later this week.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the genius of Ty Templeton's Stigs Inferno.

Well, that's a high compliment. I'm a big fan of Ty's work.
ReplyDeleteKevin, I also wanted to say I am a fan of your art and this is a great example of an artist who has the total package - the lettering, the staging and layout, a beautiful cover design in the old EC-ish way, a beautiful realistic female being menaced by those excellently crafted hellish imps, the big fat one and his curly tail, the curve of the landscape - so very nice! You are a very talented artist!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really enjoy your blog with all the black and white stories. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Now, how can I arrange to show off some of your beautiful black and white artwork on that blog? It doesn't have to be a story, it can be a few beauties like the work above. What a great B & W composition! If you feel like something like that can be possible, please email me back on the blogsite...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kevin!
That probably won't be possible since I need that material for this blog but I'll keep it in mind. In the mean time, feel free to repost anything that I put up. It's totally kosher as long as you direct them back here.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love it!
