Strange Tales letters page header

This is a pencil layout on tracing paper for the letters column in Strange Tales.  I'm guessing it was done around 1985 or '86.  It's too bad that most comics don't have letters pages anymore.  When I was a kid, that was always the first thing I read when I picked up a new book.

  1. Ahhh, that's so cool-! That CAPE-!!! I like "Mystic Missives" but I suppose that ignores the "Cloak and Dagger" feature with which Doc shared the book. When it was changed to "Strange Mails", you did that logo as well, no? ( I just dug out a copy of the comic to compare this to the printed version and was dismayed at the poor quality of the printing. Man, those cheap plates were brutal.) Illustrated headers were too few and far between. I regarded them like cover corner box art or the illustrations sometimes done for the UPC code box on direct sale books--bonus artwork, little gems. Your Doctor Strange has always been one of my faves. Thanks for posting this one!

  2. I don't think I did the "Strange Mails" logo. If I remember right, the figures were cobbled together awkwardly and the new lettering was done in this style, but by someone else.
