A new Jack B. Quick drawing

The story behind this one is more than a little convoluted and I'm tired so I'll just let the drawing speak for itself. Like I said in a previous note, I've missed Jack.

Update: I made a few small changes in the drawing and added a couple of small shadows in the background that I'd forgotten to fill in.

  1. I like this, but it seems strange. Different somehow. Is the figure referenced from a photo? The spot of light on his left arm realy doesn't look like you did it.

  2. These Townscape images have now become "Find the Oksner Hardware store" for me! haha

  3. Actually kind of funny that in the circle area with the little drawings representing what Jack is thinking, you placed the light bulb as the center top one over his head. I'm sure this was done intentionally. But overall, I think this is an interesting piece because it is showing the innocence of Jack and his town (noted by the open backgrounds and rural buildings) yet shows the dark complexity of Jack's brain and personality (noted by the shading).

Some of the rendering looks different than you would normally do. Like the arm (as mentioned above), feathering and tick lines.

  5. Awesome as always... I think this is from a photograph of your son Spencer which appeared in your Comic Book Artist 25 interview...

  6. Yup, that's the one. I took the photo as an alternative to the one I used for the cover of Tomorrow Stories #1, which is closer and shows Jack on a stool. I always meant to use it, and had done a tight sketch but didn't get around to it until recently.
