A random collection of material from comic artist Kevin Nowlan. Started with the best of intentions, but like most other efforts, doomed to perish from neglect as soon as the novelty wears off.
This was the first of the Superman covers I did back in 2002 and 2003. I went to town with the coloring but DC threw me a curve when they made me change the green radiation to purple. They didn't want it to be confused with Kryptonite.
There's an EC quality to this cover; rather macabre for a Superman cover than one would otherwise suspect. I appreciate the 3-D effect with Superman popping out of the cover . . . a SUPER effort!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece, but I agree, something is lost going from green to purple. Do you see the colors in the piece even as you're in the prelim stages?
ReplyDeletePurple was a better choice. Makes it creepier!
ReplyDeleteI hope this doesn't happens if you include Green Lantern in a Superman cover, hehe.
ReplyDeleteThanks you for sharing your arts Mr Nowlan.
ReplyDeleteI think your arts is amazing!
No, Ken, I don't see that far ahead. I wish I did.
