Metamorpho #6: cover sketches, pencils and inks
I don't know why I drew a normal hand on the second sketch, after I'd already worked out the giant pliers/clamp gizmo on the first sketch.

Definitely you have a very powerful and unique style that connects so much with me! And such a rhythm with the updates, even in summer. Thank you for that. You give me something to look for every night! Greetings from Spain.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Oscar. I probably would have lost interest months ago if I wasn't getting such positive feedback.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a real treat to see the process for these covers. You really own the characters. Something I continue to struggle with because they're branded in my head as being iconic.

I like the way you decided to twist his body as well. I think that really makes the character have much more movement and add that dramatic effect of heroism to the image.
ReplyDeleteI'm a piker compared to artists like Gil Kane and Jack Kirby but I'm trying to learn as much as I can from those guys. Their structure is right on the surface so it's easy to analyze. I like a lot of wonky artists like Frank Robbins too, so sometimes I get carried away with the exaggeration.
