If only I could draw like this guy

One of the most talented artists I know has a new book coming out in March. It's called The World of a Wayward Comic Book Artist: The Private Sketchbooks of S. Plunkett and you can read more about it here. The collection comes very highly recommended, with a forward by the legendary Michael Wm Kaluta. Here are a few samples, plus a look at Sandy's gorgeous cover painting. I'm thrilled to finally get a large book (more than 230 pages!) full of gems like this.

  2. I just watched the short video clip on Sandy's blog. I just realized we have very similar approaches to our work...and influences.

But man, can he handle the tools with great sensitivity.

  3. Good stuff! He's definitely channelling Roy Krenkel in that first pic.

A friend of mine has quite a few of Plunkett's originals. Lucky guy!!

  4. I love Sandy's work. Still remember the story he did for Marvel Fanfare that P. Craig Russell inked. Gorgeous. stuff. Thanks for letting me know about this book! Gotta reserve my copy!

  5. I always wondered what his story was. His work is so good but his comic output has been so limited it made me think that he was a part time artist who worked in an office job or something ;)

  8. I know that Sandy thinks the World of your work too, Kevin.. I can only imagine that he'll be very flattered by this appreciative Posting.

Sandy's been a hidden secret, for many years.. I think (hope!) that this'll change, after the book is released!
I'm looking forward to it's publication for many reasons.. Not the least of which, is seeing ALL of the "Something Wicked This Way Comes" stuff, that you've included here..
