Powerline #3 cover painting
From 1988. Marvel approved the sketch but after I finished the painting, they asked me to put a pair of pink sunglasses on her. Here's the original thumbnail sketch and a really bad color copy of the painting, made before it was ruined by those awful glasses.

How cool is this! This is one of my favourite pieces - it always makes me smile. The final cover was with a mask rather than glasses. I've put an image here: http://web.mac.com/nickmorgan/image/powerline.html
ReplyDeletewow......
ReplyDeleteRemarkable! Did you make the requested corrections on the original?
ReplyDeleteHey, they ARE sunglasses, I've always thought it was a mask, but the colour falls over the eyes. How could I have missed that!?
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know where I can get a monkey costume from?
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I haven't seen a lot of your painted work, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI remember these! I always thought they were fabulous paintings.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Benny, I think I did make the change on the original. It looks like the glasses were pasted down right on the board.
