Superman, Inc. cover art
This was for a 1999 Elseworlds one-shot with Superman as a sports celebrity. José drew all these small panels, I inked all but one of them, then they were colored and assembled into a collage for the final cover. It looks like several of the best shots didn't even get published.

I know I have this issue packed away somewhere. I'm going to guess Jose is not a baseball fan -- the batter's hands are reversed, he wouldn't be able to actually swing the bat. Were any of the other shots used on the back cover, Kevin?
ReplyDeleteHey, Ron. Clark was a left-handed batter. That was just a shot of him posing for the cameras during the follow-through of his home run swing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't come across my copy of the book, but you're probably right about them using some of the remaining art for the back cover. I didn't even notice the crossed grip on the bat...
ReplyDeleteMr. Nowlan, which shots did you consider the better ones?
ReplyDeletepeace out
I like all of them but the Lois drawing is particularly nice.
