  1. What beautiful pencils, Mr. Nowlan. This page does seem to suggest that you work everything out straight onto the board. No lightboxed preliminary sketches at all?

  2. I'm sure I did at least a little preliminary sketching but for pages like this, with most of the figures being so small, the sketches were very basic. I'd block in the lettering, get a rough idea of how much space was left for the art, then I'd go straight to the boards. There wasn't much need for lightboxing.
