Subby inks over Byrne layout

Several years ago, a good friend of mine asked me to finish the pencils and ink Namor on this crossover pin-up. John Byrne had roughed in the figures and inked Superman. Mike Zeck finished Cap. Later, George PĂ©rez took a shot at Wonder Woman but it looks like the other figures are still in graphite limbo.

  2. So if someone among your readers become a famous artist someday, they can ask you to ink a figure of the sketch?..:D
That's a joke, but what is not is your Namor, it's amazing.

  3. I recently thought about creators whom you've never worked with, being that you've worked with quite a lot of them to varying degrees. At best, I would think Byrne would've written a story for you to draw at some point. This is the next best thing.

Frank Miller is another one. Closest was you almost following his DD run. You inking his current pencils... that would be very interesting.

  4. I know who owns this piece now (it was sold on eBay). I don't think he's had any luck adding to it, but he really wanted Murphy Anderson to do a character...

  5. If I owned that, I'd be tempted to approach Joe Sinnott on the Torch, anyone named Kubert on Hawkman and Jim Lee, Neal Adams or Dick Giordano on Batman.

Fun to think about. Looks great so far!

  7. Just so you all know I am the one who owns the above piece. I have not formally asked any artists yet to ink the piece. I was very happy that Kevin emailed me for the above scan for his blog, this also allowed me to see the version of the piece that he copied before he inked the Namor figure. My intentions are to start asking artists in late April. I have carefully thought of a list of artists both Golden Age and Silver/modern age artists, of whom I would love to have ink the remaining 3 figures. Just read an update on Giordano from the Byrne boards, apparently he is not well. Though I do pray he does pull through. Giordano is one of the many(most of whom are on your list Kurt). I have thought of mixing it up and approach Joe Kubert or Murphy Anderson for Batman. Maybe Adams or Ordway for Hawkman. Sinnott or even Giella for the Human Torch. I have not rushed this because the piece is a once in a life time artist jam, that can't be duplicated.

  8. Just to be clear... Brian graciously sent a scan so that I could post it here but he wasn't the original owner.

  9. 11 years later. If may I ask, the art is now finished? I see that Lee Weeks have done Batman. This jam is amazing
