Not much to show on this page. Only one small preliminary sketch, half of which I used and the rest I completely redrew. I like the way Jan described the action he was looking for here.

Amazing Kevin; thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love to see the preliminary sketches you did for your pages
Seeing this stuff in black and white really makes me appreciate the amount of skill you throw into each page to spot the blacks, vary the line weights, etc. The energy in the second panel is great for a compressed shot.
ReplyDeletei've noticed something, took me this long too. your using a more sinple style with your rendering than usual. typicaly you're known for massive crosshatching and detail work. in this, it's mostly B&W and lines. yet you managed to lose nothing in the processs. thanks for sharing your progressions again.
ReplyDeletepeace out
Hey Kevin, how you doing?
ReplyDeleteCool stuff.
Always wondered when i was little, but never find out about it...How do you guys do those little dots like on bats at the final panel? Is there any special kind of material or is it just a technic?
Hugo S.
It was a clear, adhesive film that we referred to generically as Zip-a-tone, although other companies made it as well. It had the black dots printed on it and you would paste it down to the art, then trim off the excess.
ReplyDeleteYeah, i imagined something like that haha
ReplyDeleteI like it, it kinda gives more 3d look to the art at some cases.
Thanks for answering.
