The Goon: Man of the Hour page 6
Unlike page 5, most of this was worked out in the final pencils, rather than the layouts, but you can see how I changed my mind about a few things as this evolved. If you compare the pencils scan to the inks, you'll see that I completely redrew the last panel and made the building smaller so that we could see the chaos on the left. I could have avoided all that wasted effort if I'd tightened up the layout a bit more.

Again, this is my favorite page of the story. I think it was a great decision by you on the last panel to move the building more towards the background to show the chaos. I noticed that too was how the robot coming out of the building was subtle. Still think it looks like the license plate says The End.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I love that building in the pencil page last panel, but you're right, it works much better with the smaller building and the visible carnage. I'll have to go find this story!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY!!
ReplyDeleteMr. Nowlan how did you go about changing the House, from the final pencil to the ink?
ReplyDeleteFirst, I erased the whole panel, cursed under my breath, then started redrawing everything with the building smaller and moved more to the right. I may have done a preliminary sketch at about print size, maybe on tracing or typing paper, but I don't remember for sure and I haven't come across any other sketches for this page.
